How to distinguish 2.4GHz Wi-Fi and 5GHz Wi-Fi?

Dec 28,2022 | LongPlus

🟠 Method 1: Distinguish by the Wi-Fi name

Usually, if the Wi-Fi name contains "5G"/"5g", the Wi-Fi signal is 5GHz. The same is true with 2.4GHz Wi-Fi.

🟠 Method 2: Distinguish the Wi-Fi frequency by the network details in your phone Settings

If you have an Android phone and it is connected with the Wi-Fi network, you can go and confirm the frequency of the connected Wi-Fi by tapping the Wi-Fi name or the "info" icon at the right of the Wi-Fi name.

🗒️ Note: The iOS system does not display the frequency in the Wi-Fi details.

🟠 Method 3: Distinguish the Wi-Fi frequency by logging into the router's admin site

You can also enter the router's admin address in the browser address bar (usually the admin address is written on the router body) -> enter the admin password to go into the admin site -> click the wireless settings on the router admin page to check the frequency of the router.

🗒️ Note: If you've enabled "Smart Connect" or something like that, the SSID of 2.4G Wi-Fi and 5G Wi-Fi is the same. Under this condition, the camera will automatically connect to the 2.4G Wi-Fi.

🟠 Method 4: Confirm the Wi-Fi frequency by contacting the router's manufacturer

You can reach out to the customer service of the router's manufacturer to ask about the Wi-Fi frequency and how to set it.
